This October 29, 1963 usage of the 8¢ Liberty Giori press pays the 8¢ domestic air mail rate.  Tony says... It took me 13 years to find this example.

Roland Austin replies to Tony's question... I have had a Dec. 23, 1964, 8¢ Liberty domestic airmail cover very similar to yours for several years.  I just didn't realize its significance until I read your column in the Jan. 5, 2004, STAMP COLLECTOR.

John Hotchner reports a domestic air mail an 8¢ flat/rotary use cancelled 3/12/64 with an air mail sticker tied by cancel; philatelic in that it is from John Fox to Dr. C L Wunsch.   (scan not yet available)

Steve Unkrich writes...The 8c Liberty (Scott # 1041 & 1041B) came out April 9, 1954. At the time, the only 8c international airmail letter rate was to Cuba, St. Pierre and Miquelon if I read Tony's book correctly. The rate to Cuba was raised to 10c on August 1, 1954 and the later two countries on Jul 1, 1961. I have the 8c Liberty paying the 8c rate to Cuba before the rate went to 10c. This was only a 3 month window of opportunity for the 8c Liberty to Cuba. Seems rare to me.
